“Turn, turn, my wheel! Turn round and round Without a pause, without a sound: So spins the flying world away!” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I make domestic and decorative ceramics in stoneware, mainly using the wheel, but also hand-building.
Sometimes themes of colour and texture emerge, almost unbidden, reminding me of the wild shores and rocky moors of the Falkland Islands, the land of penguins, where I was born and raised.
My interest in natural environments may explain why I am influenced by a school of pottery that began in the UK nearly a century ago, combining Japanese, Korean, and British traditions. This artistic movement is best represented by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, two humble men who created simple yet dynamic work reflecting pottery’s deep connection to nature.
The pots you can see on this site are all for sale. If you would like to have my work in your home, please contact me.
This pieces on the ‘for sale’ page have price tags, but many of the other pieces shown here and on my Instagram channel are also for sale. If you see a pot that you would like to have in your home, please contact me. I’d love to hear from you – whether you want to buy my work or not.
“The pot is the man: his vices and his values are therein. No disguise is possible”
Bernard Leach

News: pots for all pockets in Holland Park
If you live in or near London, please visit my exhibition in the Ice House at Holland Park between 12 and 20 July. I’ll be sharing this lovely space with fellow Falklander mixed-media artist Annie Keenleyside and my mentor and friend Chris Bramble (https://www.chrisbrambleceramics.com/). I’ll have lots of new work on sale and there will be pots for every pocket.
And here’s an invitation you may find hard to refuse: if you’d like to view the pots with a glass of wine in your hand at the private viewing, please contact me using the form on this website. It would be lovely to see you.
And finally, here I am talking about a recently made pot that I’m very pleased with. It’ll be at the show!
